But that’s precisely what some of you encountered. These weren't just minor glitches; they were fundamental breaks in the user experience, impacting trust and causing frustration.
We saw instances where an uninstall didn't fully clean up, leaving behind traces that interfered with subsequent installations. Or, worse, when trying to restore functionality after a temporary removal, settings were lost, or the extension simply refused to re-engage correctly. This was unacceptable.
When these reports surfaced, there was no debate internally. This wasn't a feature request; it was a fundamental integrity issue. Our engineering teams, in close collaboration with our community, immediately dove into the core of the problem. This wasn't about quick fixes; it was about understanding the root cause, patching every vulnerability, and ensuring a robust uninstall patch restore mechanism.
We opened direct lines of communication, gathered telemetry, and replicated every reported scenario. It meant long nights, deep dives into edge cases specific to different IDEs, and a complete re-evaluation of how our extension managed its lifecycle events. This journey wasn't easy, but it sharpened our resolve.
